I think so. There is pressure coming from the people to do so.
Okay, here is a little bit of grade school history for all of you . . .
Before there was a country called China there was this bunch of warlords in that vast area that fought each other on a regular basis. Then this guy named Chin figured out how to defeat all the other warlords one by one and when he finally did so he named his empire China after himself. Descendants of Chin ruled that area up until the end of WW2 when Mao Tse Tung took over and imposed communist rule, which is still in power to this day.
The people of China have known no other kind of government except a hard and ruthless type of government in their entire history which spans a time frame that predates Christianity.
With that kind of history for that region, I really do not believe that they will ever rise up against their government to demand any other kind of government than what they have always known.
Actually, the "guy's name" was Qin, with a Q, which name they got from their homeland that is now modernday Shaanxi province. Sorry, China enthusiast here, LOL
In the main though, I agree with you. They've always had a totalatarian government, and so it would be majorly difficult for them to transcend that. That's the same reason I don't think we'll ever be able to forcefully change the system of government in the Middle East, but I digress.
In the books (more than one) that I have read on the subject of world history it was spelled Chin, but then I only read books that were printed in English. Also, the History Channel had an entire hour devoted to the subject of China's early history about a year ago and they even spelled it Chin. Hey, if its on the tube then it must be right, right?
Haha, yeah. Most places I've seen it, it was 'Qin', but that's because 'Q' makes a ch sound.
