Many, many years down the road, maybe.
Russia has a democracy? This is like saying Afghanistan or Iraq has a democracy or anything resembling a democratic governance. Elections are not "democracy". There's a set of general human rights required of which the ballot and the capacity of meaningful political elections are only one vital member on that list. Usually they're one of the last additions to it.
Yes. The Russian mafia, which is now the strongest in the world, will see to that. There is nothing more democratic than money and the things it can buy.
There's a difference between gangster economics and market economics.
Cartels are not generally very "democratic", at least if you're not a part of the oligarchy.
Democracy = Mob Rule. Again I say GOOGLE IT!
Vladimir Putin rules with the old iron fist of the KGB that he was a major player in. Now understand this; KGB = Russian Mafia. That is what happened after the fall of Communist rule in Russia.
So to answer your question, yes Russia has a very strong Democracy now as it is under mob rule and has been since Putin took over from the aging Boris Yeltsin.
Just my not-so-humble opinion. B)
Especially considering China also holds elections…and that doesn't mean they have a "democracy."
