Of course we will. We say it now, with all these movies coming out, but people aren't going to resist having their own butler and stuff. People are selfish.
No way. It won't happen.

Robie Jr. I had one of those when I was 5. Scared the crap out of me. I am all for service bots, but we're not even close to getting there technologically yet.
You think that's because of the media? I know there are companies out there who have prototypes.
In college, I remember having to write an essay about these robots. Here is a picture of one of them:

They are being developed and are actually able to react to emotional stimuli. It's scary. We shouldn't allow it.
You're right. if we give them emotions then they can't be the heartless killing machines we need. That robot you linked to looks pretty cool, but it needs more guns.
Instead of humans fighting, we should just have robots fight.

Maybe not for services. But technology is doing something pretty fast.
The singularity is a load of crap.
Its a bad idea, robots will take over the world.
Are we speaking of the website (which merely hosted youtube videos of robot demonstrations) or the concept of a singularity here?
They will fight us instead
We already have service robots.
They are called Obamatrons.
I read about them on another blog.
They even look Human, but they only do what Obama-the-Messiah says.
Just my not-so-humble opinion.
The concept itself.
