I don't think so. The world is too internationalized and the United States is too large and powerful to collapse like that.
Probably. Either that, or we'll become part of the one-world government….either way, America won't end up the same.
If Obama has his way, we will implode and disintegrate into a Communist terror state that will eventually be overrun by third world nations such as Mexico . . . . . . . . .
However, there are enough of us left in this country who will not let Obama have his way.
FYI to Jared – NOTHING is too big or too powerful to fail. Not even Obama.
You realize the president (at the moment, Obama) does not make the nation, nor is he the first to actually take steps toward making America less than she was intended to be.
To a certain extent, I think yes.
Historically, any large empire that continued a large-scale military buildup of its forces throughout its history, have become fallen empires.
As much as we would like to think that our leaders and policy makers would learn from past mistakes, they simply don't.
You need to check your facts there L94, the current House members along with their Senate counterparts have given this guy almost dictatorial powers through the enormous (over 12,000 pages each) health care reform and financial reform bills – hint = most of the content of those 12,000 pages had nothing to do with health care of finances but everything to do with executive control through the appointments of "regulators" (or CZARS as the news media like to call them) to oversee the rules and regulation implementation set forth by the POTUS.
How does that "fundamentally changing of the U.S." work for you now?
Empires need to have emperors.
When did we have one, and who is it?
That's not anything that hasn't already been done. Have you read the PATRIOT act lately? Gives the executive branch enormous power over the criminal justice system, which means he has power over everything, basically- seeing as if you declare someone a terrorist and throw them in jail, they cease to be a problem. There have also been other instances in past presidencies along this same line. Obama is not the first one to go along with dramatic expansions of power, nor will he be the last.
Not true. An empire is defined as: "a group of countries under a single authority." Now while America can't legally assert her authority over the world (the UN stands in the way of that, and that's one thing I agree with the UN on), she does however try her level best to do it through other means- like, for instance, having military bases in other countries, purportedly to "help" said nations, jumping into wars with no Constitutional nor humanitarian legitimacy, and just basically making a very large nuisance of herself…all to the tune of trillions of dollars in military and "humanitarian" expenditures.
LOL PapaDawg you were on a roll with that response, kudos!
So PapaDawg and Liberty94 are arguing over who's screwed us more, not whether we're screwed or not… I for one am glad we have the Amish, they will serve as an excellent Apocalypse contingency plan. Of course then we'll go back into the dark ages, kind of like Ro… oh… Well I guess I know where I stand on this debate topic now.
We won't become part of a one-world government because our constitution prohibits it. No law is above the constitution, as it is stated.
The President can however put certain laws and institutions in place that can prohibit the growth of the economy, while all the other countries flourish. Then, eventually we will not be the superpower anymore.
I dig those outfits they wear lol jk.
The Roman Empire did not actually fall. It was taken over by a church.
I suppose, at a stretch, it could happen to the U.S. too.
