I think there will be and it's going to be a growing problem. That's because any guy who doesn't know what he's talking about can run for President and he'll gain his race's votes simply because he belongs to that race. How many people voted for Obama without looking at a single policy he is strongly for/against? You had all those black people on television who are uneducated voting for him simply because he's black. Who's next up, Jewish people?
I think the best man should get the job, not because of his color. This is going to be worsen our country, because racism is going to be stronger than ever when the presidential elections come by.
There is but one Race, and that is the Human Race.
Anything else is just the fallacy of your imagination.
Just my not-so-humble opinion. B)
More presidents of different races? I'm waiting for a woman president!
Jared,
One could easily make your point about McCain. How many people knew nothing of his policy but voted strictly on skin color.
Did you make the same point about Bush-Kerry ? If not, why not ?
Hang in there kid, Sarah is on her way!
I certainly hope so. Scot-Americans, German-Americans, Dutch-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans, Irish-Americans, African-Americans, among others, have all served as Presidents. Why not Asian-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, Italian-Americans, and Native Americans as well?
Why do they have to be hyphenated? Why can't we all just be "Americans" regardless of our ancestral heritage?
I am an American. I was born in the United States of America. Just by reading what I am writing here you have no idea what my skin pigmentation, my ancestral heritage, my hair color or my eye color.
All you know is what I told you about me, and you can safely assume that I am a member of the Human Race.
Hyphenations mean absolutely nothing, except to those who prejudge.
You really think that?
Jared. Just as there are many people who would vote in a racial minority as president only because of the color of his/her skin, there are many people who wouldn't vote in a racial minority only because of the color of his/her skin. Since the 1950's, there has been a campaign tactic called the "southern strategy" where candidates would appeal to the fears and prejudices of the racist south in order to obtain votes.
Thank you for strengthening my point.
However Liberaltarian there probably more American people who are in the majority who vote for minorities out of fear of being accused racist. Sure, uneducated African-Americans voted for Obama solely because he is black, but there were many White-Americans were also uneducated but voted for him, solely because he is black.
The right man for the job should recieve it, there should be absolutely NO consideration of race, or sex.
