I believe that we will. Give it 10-20 years and we all will. I'd say around 90%.
Most probably but we need to see what type of alternative fuel we can get, if we can.
This is nothing but a political scam.
If you cannot see the fallacy in all this global warming – oops, they now are calling it "global climate change" – then . . . well, you get my drift!
Just my not-so-humble opinion.
The most powerful entity on this planet is the almighty consumer!
If car companies and oil companies can keep the wool pulled over the eyes of the consumer then they have it made.
Most folks want bigger and stronger vehicles, and a whole lot of us understand that there is really no end to carbon based fuels – aka crude oil – since it can be manufactured synthetically forever. The political lie that crude oil is running out is fostered and promoted by the oil industry just to run up the profits and price at the pump and the politicians get paid off to perpetuate that scam.
Once the consumer denies the car builders their little road coffins – look up the Smart Car from Smart Industries – and then stop buying higher priced gas, we will settle down to reality again.
Ok firstly, car manufacturers are releasing more hybrid cars because they get extra monetary incentives from the governement for the sales of those cars. The reason for that is because hybrids are incredibly, prohibitively expensive to actually manufacture. So remember while you drive your Pious, I mean Prius that the amount of effort and chemicals put into building the lithium stack batteries in your car made more pollution than a Hummer would in its first 5 years….. Also since their so friggin popular right now the prices are so high that it will take you nearly 17 years to recuperate the extra cost you paid for that hybrid in gasoline savings. (numbers based on gas prices in Long Island of $2.85/gallon).
The fact of the matter is that hybrids are a trash technology, it's still based around a 100 year old design of the gasoline engine… honestly, 100 years and we don't have a new fuel source for a small passenger vehicle…. yup OPEC jerking the strings right there… theres a reason they are described as a Cartel.
And I don't want to get super preachy, but gasoline engines are such a small percentage of human pollution that its the last thing we really need to worry about. America powers itself almost completely on coal/oil based electricity. Which means our electric plants are coal.oil fired boilers which create steam, which turn turbines, which turn generators. We belch more smoke into the air from our power plants, factories, refineries, mines etc than the cars ever do….
Here a nice fact for you, having spent part of my summer in Germany. Their cars ALL get over 40 miles to the gallon, diesel AND gasoline. No hybrids, no electrics. I rented a Fiat 500 with 45miles/gallon. I've rented a Mercedes hatchback that got close to 60! IOn regular unleaded… Where the hell are these cars here?!?
Don't get me started on their power production infrastructure. Germany and France use nearly no coal/oil power. If I saw less than 1000 power windmills in the areas I visited I'd be surprised. It's all wind, solar, and nuclear. And honestly, when was the last time you heard about a 3 mile island in Europe…. never… they've got an amazing regulatory commission for their plants..
You want to save down the environment, switch over our power infrastructure.
Hybrids are the bandaid to keep people's mouths shut right now. Eventually we'll have to, and will, move to fully electric cars. The technology is most here now, but it will become more efficient and cheap to manufacture in the near future. At some point we will have no choice but to abandon oil as a fuel source because it truly is an absurd concept to continue. It got us to this point, advancement wise as a society, but it's time to move on to bigger and better things.
I believe we will to we need to save energy as much as we can because in the future its not going to look good for America so lets start now, and start caring about our country tis is everyones country so lets stat acting like it
i like hybrid cars because they are more energy efficient compared to petrol engines~”:
Absolutely not.
hybrid cars would be the best thing because they are less polluting to the environment `*’
